Veil of Autumn Amber

Tumbling in a magnificent, tiered cascade down a dark wall of fractured granite, a powerful mountain river cuts through the heart of a vibrant northern hardwood forest. Framed by the brilliant golden-orange canopy of **American beech (*Fagus grandifolia*)** and maples, the rushing waters fragment into delicate, silken ribbons as they plunge over ancient glaciated rock steps. This dynamic aquatic corridor represents a vital drainage system for the White Mountains, providing crucial oxygenation for pristine mountain streams and creating a high-humidity microclimate that supports rich moss and lichen communities along the damp, vertical gorge walls.
