**The striking littoral geomorphology of this protected cove** demonstrates a profound interaction between hydrologic forces and terrestrial flora along a late Precambrian sandstone formation. Continuous mechanical weathering from wave action and localized ice wedging has selectively eroded vulnerable sedimentary joints, leaving behind highly textured, undercut cliffs and arched portals. Atop these steep, moss-carpeted rock shelves, the root networks of a northern temperate forest actively stabilize a thin layer of organic soil. This specialized microclimate, moderated by the massive, deep water basin, fosters a dense overhanging canopy of early-season deciduous growth whose bright green foliage casts rich, saturated reflections onto the exceptionally clear, turquoise littoral waters.
